VA independent mental health examinations
Independent psychological examinations and nexus opinions for veterans, written to the standards those claims require.
Adults
Diagnostic clarity for adults: attention, autism, learning and memory, emotional wellness, and the documentation that colleges, employers, and agencies ask for.
Why adults get evaluated
Adults come to Amlea for many reasons: a lifelong question about attention or autism, a memory or learning concern, a college disability office or employer asking for documentation, a physician wanting diagnostic clarity, or an agency or attorney needing a defensible clinical opinion. Each gets the same standard: clinical interview, validated standardized testing, and a report written to be used.
Evaluations cover cognitive, academic, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning, matched to the question, and include a 30-minute fNIRS session that adds context about how your brain engages under load. How the fNIRS layer works.
For the adult who has always wondered, and for accommodation requests.
A respectful, thorough look at development, communication, and daily functioning.
Cognitive and achievement testing with documentation for disability offices.

Your evaluation day
Every evaluation at Amlea follows the same deliberate sequence, so nothing about the day is a surprise.
A collaborative conversation about history, strengths, and the concerns that brought you in.
Evidence-based measures of cognitive, academic, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning, chosen for the question being asked.
A built-in 15-minute pause, then a 30-minute fNIRS session that observes prefrontal activity with a soft near-infrared headband. No electrodes, no gel, no radiation.
Scores, clinical observations, and fNIRS observations come together in one written report and one plan.
The fNIRS data never diagnoses anything on its own. Every diagnosis comes from validated testing and clinical judgment. Read how the fNIRS layer works.
After the evaluation
You receive feedback in person and a written report. For accommodation requests, Amlea provides documentation for college disability offices and workplace accommodations, and can document time off when clinically indicated. If care is recommended, psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management through our integrated care partner are already in place.
