Testing when it helps
When the picture is unclear, a psychological evaluation sharpens the plan before therapy begins or partway through.
Psychotherapy
Therapy with a plan: a clear start, real phases, a progress benchmark, and an ending you can see coming.
How therapy works here
Therapy at Amlea is not open-ended sessions that drift. Every person starts with a full evaluation or a diagnostic brief assessment, so the work begins from an accurate understanding rather than a guess. From there, weekly sessions move through defined phases: an opening month focused on safety and rapport, then hands-on work, then a progress review.
The approaches are established and evidence-based: person-centered work, REBT, CBT, solution-focused therapy, and practical skills training. Which ones we lean on depends on what your assessment shows and what you want to change.
A full evaluation or a diagnostic brief assessment before session one.
The first 30 days build the relationship. No hard interventions yet.
REBT, CBT, and skills work, reviewed together at session 26: graduate or continue.
Why 26 sessions
Decades of outcome research show a predictable pattern: the share of people with measurable improvement climbs with each block of sessions, with about three out of four people showing measurable progress by 26 weekly sessions. That is why 26 is our benchmark. When you reach it, we look at your measures together and decide what comes next, grounded in your data rather than a feeling.

Each weekly hour can be bookended with a short fNIRS brain-training round, so progress is something you can see and not only feel. The band uses near-infrared light to read prefrontal activity; there are no electrodes, gel, or radiation. It is a wellness training tool, not a medical treatment, and it never replaces the therapy itself. How neuro-paired therapy works.
